October 2010: Meridia was withdrawn from the USA market!
Meridia is brand name for chemical substance Sibutramine. It is a prescription only diet pill that works by artificially making your brain believe that you’re full when in fact you’re not.
This way you will feel full after you have eaten just a little food. It would seem Meridia is a “dream come true” among the regular dieters. But is Meridia really safe? Let’s find out…
Who can NOT use Meridia?
Do not take Meridia if you have used MAOI inhibitors in the past, if you have high blood pressure, eating disorder, if you’re taking other diet pills or if you have heart disease.
If you’re pregnant or plant to become pregnant while taking Meridia, tell your doctor about it. At the moment it is not known whether Meridia can harm an unborn baby.
Who is Meridia for?
Meridia is meant to be used by those people who have BMI of 30+ or those who have BMI of 27+ with some other health risk present.
What are Meridia side effects?
The fact that Meridia is a prescription only substance should give you a clue that it can cause some unpleasant side effects such as: dry mouth, headaches, constipation, sweating, anxiety, insomnia, vomiting, fast or uneven heartbeat, shortness of breath, hallucinations, fever, tremor, diarrhea, stiff muscles, confusion, chest pains.
Keep in mind that this is not the complete list of side effects. Call your doctor immediately if you notice anything different while taking Meridia.
Is Meridia recommended?
Definitely NOT recommended. This diet pill can be so dangerous that it’s no wonder it was withdrawn from the USA market recently. The list of possible side effects is just scary to look at. Even if you qualify for Meridia, we would suggest you not to take it. Meridia works by interfering with functioning of your nervous system and tricking your brain into believing you have eaten. This is rather unhealthy way of losing weight and we do not recommend something like this to anyone.
What’s the best alternative?
Take a look at Proactol Fat Binder – it can bind up to 27% of your dietary fat intake and stop it from being digested. And it all happens without interfering with functioning of your nervous system and without giving you any side effects.
